Disability Data Collection Using the Washington Group Questionnaire and UNICEF Tools

Share

How can we design truly inclusive development if data on persons with disabilities remains limited? This document offers an answer through field-based data collection conducted across six villages in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

Using internationally recognized tools such as the Washington Group Questionnaire and the UNICEF Child Functioning Module, this study identified 394 persons with disabilities, reflecting a wide range of conditions and the complex realities at the community level. Behind these numbers are stories of individuals—many of them of working age—who continue to face significant barriers in accessing education, employment, and basic services.

More than just presenting data, this document invites a shift in perspective: disability data is not merely administrative, but a strategic instrument to drive inclusive, rights-based, and socially just development.

Download this document to gain deeper insights into the realities of disability at the village level, and how data can serve as a foundation for more systemic change.
